Very pretty area especially if you are visiting in autumn- April to June. I recommend doing sawpit gully walking trail which goes around arrowtown river- it is just a beautiful walk with mesmerising views.
We loved exploring the historic Chineses settlement, so interesting! If we had bikes, the river trail would be lovely to ride. Nice to be able to buy an ice cream at the Patagonia ice cream shop. Exciting to think gold was found in this river.
