We have done this walk a number of times - both along the top, which gives you great views over the sea and the mountains, and today we did the walk along the waterfront while the tide was out - lots of bird-life and seals...More

For me, South Bay in Kaikoura, is one of the most amazing places i have been. The walkway is a must do on a good day. Easy to do and very rewarding. You can start from South Bay and finish in Kaikoura or even just...More

This is worth the effort, take your lunch and fresh water, a wind, rain jacket and wear good track shoes, not slipons. There is nothing but ocean on every turn, and the whole walk can start and end from the Kaikoura township. we stopped quite often...More

Spent a great afternoon walking this well marked and very scenic walk. Good shos and camera needed. The views are definitely worth a long nearly 14km walk!

A relatively easy but long walk with stunning views and lots of seals! Watch out if you walk along the beach through the seal colony, they’re surprisingly well camouflaged against the rocks!

A must trek, nature in the full sense. Full of animals and life. You will enjoy the walk despite of the wind. Careful with the seals! Respect the distance.

We spent several hours here. We enjoyed the lovely views and even had the good fortune of seeing a whale jumping while we were there. We did not see any seals in the seal colony area though. The climb to the top of the lookout...More

This is a nice walk where one can view the bay and also see the snow capped mountains in the distance. The beach is more of a pebbles and black sand beach and in September it was still quiet cool, not really suitable for swimming....More

Sorry, no idea about the walk. About staying in the area, they were repairing from earthquake damage so should be done now, but we saw some lovely places that we drove by.
