This is in the Town Hall Square and was erected in 1897. It is only a copy after the statue was destroyed in World War 11. The original is at St Peter's Cathedral. Roland is a true person and he has became the symbol of justice in Northern Germany

As with other structures in this square the statue that is in the square is a copy. The original statue was damaged in the Second World War and now stands in the church, which you have to pay to go in. This seems to be a pity for such an important symbol of freedom.
