Depends on what's your thing of course. It was the perfect getaway, roadtrip, nothing but vast, empty space, small roads, no gas stations, no bars n restaurants - Kelso Depot has one but it was closed on our visiting days so it was just a...More

Amazing road through and alongside the desert - loads of Joshua Trees ( no need to go to Joshua Tree National Park on way so saving about an extra 3 hours off the trip) No need to go to Kelso to the Visitor centre just...More

I certainly would not have made a special trip here just to see a desert however being on a route between other places it was interesting to see how the desert changes:- sandy, rocky, mountainous, barren areas, shrubs, cacti plus Joshua trees. Man-made sights include...More

I stopped here on a roadtrip home from Seattle. We stopped by the Kelso Dunes, and the Granite Mountains. It was a beautiful area, and lots of nice scenery driving through, but the dunes and mountains weren't really worth the hike IMO.

Visited parts of the Mojave desert as part of my last US visit. Within the visit I looked at Las Vegas, Red Canyon, Death Valley and some other areas. The desert is huge and never really gets cold.

This is one of my fav places in the world. Not only is spring spectacular, but the night sky is amazing. Definitely a great place to get away from it all. BE SURE to bring whatever supplies you need because there is NO STORE nearby...More

The land is amazing to explore and wander, there are dunes, rock outcroppings and plenty of spaces to explore. You have to be ready. Don't get caught without proper supplies. It's a desert, it's really dry, bring plenty of water, find shade. There's lots of...More

'It's definitely a story' we like to tell everyone. Our plan was to drive from LA to Vegas in a mustang - and got there. Eventually. We got a little lost, but the actual desert was pretty awesome. TIP: always make sure your GPS works...More
