A year-round recreational area for boaters, swimmers, fishermen, hikers, photographers, campers, and sightseers. Lake Mead is a huge reservoir impounded by the Hoover Dam. Approximately 30 miles from Las Vegas. Entrance fees charged.

We own a boat and dock at Lake Cumberland, KY. We have never seen a clearer or cleaner looking marina than this one. Another chance to use our permanent pass in a national recreation area. Great views and a must stop if you haven’t. We...More
We were recommended to spend the day on a boat away from the Madness of Las Vegas and we are so glad we did. check the Boating Lake Mead web site and check on the boats you want and then call ahead to book or...More
About an hour or so outside of Vegas - super easy drive and spectacular sites. We loved seeing antelope who were not afraid so allowed us to get plenty of pics! Great for all ages and hiking skill levels

One of the most tranquil and clean places I've ever seen. There is also a pretty interesting visitor center that has some cool stuff in it and a reasonable priced gift shop. A great place to take some scenic photographs.
Weekly visitor to the LMRA. Easy to find a decent dog play area early in the morning that doesn't conflict with anyone else. Garbage obvious particular after weekend which is quite sad. Yes broken bottles too so be aware. No sand beaches with road access....More

It varies depending on which side of Lake Meade you are looking to go. It’s about an hour from Vegas if you stay on the Nevada side. If you drive another 30 mins or so you will pass over the Colorado River and through the Hoover Dam into Arizona and that part of the Lake Meade Rec Area. Your choice, can’t go wrong either way but I do recommend checking out the Hoover Dam if you are that close!
