Took Amtrak out of Union Station to New York. The station is clean and fairly busy with passengers. We got out of DC without any issues. When we returned we stopped in the food court to get something to eat before we hopped on metro...More

Union station is an American treasure, fully restored to glorious condition. We spent two hours throroughly exploring the station, and appreciating both the original splendor of the design, and the painstaking work and authenticity of the restoration.

This is the perfect place to kill time while waiting for your train. There were plenty of choices for food and drink. The retail portion was nice.

Enjoyed arriving here and wandering through. Beautiful design and nice portico. Really impressive walking out and seeing capital hill. Easy access to taxis helped us a lot. Oh and a couple of good eateries. Nicely done !

I've read the reviews that said the place was dirty and that panhandlers drove them crazy. Didn't experience any of that. One woman pushing a baby stroller stuck out a cup asking for money but that was it. I visited around noon on a Friday...More

Plan to arrive early - very early (30 minutes to 2 hours before departure). Boarding gates are usually posted 15 minutes prior to a train's departure. Many stations have monitors and signs that display the boarding gate... More
