We didn’t tour inside, seemed too busy and we hate crowds but we did walk around and it is definitely worth it to get a sense of scale and get great views down the Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue. Lots of good photo opportunities and the...More
What an awesome place. A must see. Take a walk down the Library of Congress. They have free tours which last about half an hour which is a must. Many of the statues and topics are discussed. Quite informative. After the free tour go back...More
We just visited the Capitol and did a tour (which we booked online well in advance - easy to do).
Positives: Great to be able to see what lies under the dome, and learn about the history of the building, and some of the paintings/sculptures...More
We went at a weekend and although having to wait 40 minutes for the tour it was worth the wait. The place is amazing and the information from the guides is fantastic. The art, the statues and the sculptures are amazing. The history of the...More
Wrote to our local Senator, John Cornyn's office and his office arranged a private tour with one of his aide's. It was amazing- very informative and created a special experience. Not a Cornyn fan, but his staff was wonderful and we were appreciative. Budget lots...More
The last time I was here the Capitol was shrouded in scaffolding but the result is sensational with the building a gleaming white marble brilliant from and distance and in sunlight. Couldn’t keep my eyes off it.

Check out the Visit The Capitol website
You can also enter the main area without a tour but I recommend the tour for the historical information. Tour takes about 45 min if I remember correctly.
