Disappointed that we could not enter the lighthouse. Local fishing beach and community. People approach to give you a non tour. This could be vastly improved.

This is one of the oldest parts of Accra. A short tour is given by volunteers who will ask you for a donation for their charitable activities (I shelled out USD20, which my guide said was fine). You will walk on the beach and see...More

So much to see here. Jamestown has a unique history tied up with the different periods of colonial conquest and fight back.

The Lighthouse cannot be missed, and can be seen from most parts of Jamestown. You cannot say you have been to Jamestown if you didn't see the Lighthouse

The lighthouse was in an old and interesting part of Accra. We walked through many interesting streets with nice graffiti, restaurants for tourists, picturesque landscape with many old style houses, indigenes playing games, etc and ended up at the foot of the lighthouse. After appreciating...More

Jamestown, was British built in the colonial Gold Coast era. It's another vibrant coastal township today. As an added benefit, absolutely spectacular with water activities on New Year's Eve.

This is for me one of the better moments in Accra tourism. Again, you need to have background knowledge or a guide. The Brant Guide will tell you most of what you need to know.

Sadly the lighthouse was closed when we visited, but I still enjoyed the area. Honestly, it was one of the most impovershed areas that we saw in all of Ghana, so understandably, it was also the place we received the most hassle for stuff -...More
