Don’t let a trip to the West Bank deter you from making this trip. It was just like walking through the Bible. I felt incredibly safe and never did I feel uneasy. The church is beautiful. The crowd is massive. The line moved fairly well...More

I'm using this space to describe a self-organised day trip because I can't find anywhere else on TripAdvisor to explain what we did & which may be useful to other people. We visit Israel regularly to see family but haven't 'done' Bethlehem. We felt it...More

When in this part of the world, a Must Do, whether Christian or not. Beautiful church, interesting historical perspective. Under some construction. Probably always crowded but SO worth it.

Gorgeous with beautiful Lebanese wood roof . Jesse was born here so it really wouldn’t matter what it looked like . Check on mass times before you visit because Jesus area could be closed .

Beautiful church but can be very crowded. If you travel solo or without a group it might take awhile for you to get down to the star.

To visit the actual site of the very first Christmas is a sensation not to be avoided. As well as the wonder of the Cathedral built on the site of Christ's birth, the descent to the stable is humbling and uplifting at the same time....More

This is a great site in the world however disappointing as it is chaotic and disorganised. Long hot 2 hour queue. The church is under repair in parts. Little assistance for the elderly in the queue.

To enjoy your visit, I would suggest getting there when the church opens. Be in line even before it opens. The crowds are crazy, there is no line, lots of pushing and shoving and unfortunatley, nasty priests in the 'cave'. We waited over an hour...More

We went about 3 in the afternoon and there was virtually no line. We walked right in. It was fairly crowded inside but not too bad

Yes, no problems, however the columns are under repair and the main nave is covered with construction.
