Quite impressive through its sheer size and being in good condition. Visit is free if you have a Jordan Pass including the two museums on the left and right but both are small and rather dusty.

What we like about this theatre is that it is still being used today. Twice a month performances are being held here. The theatre can have approx 6000 people and the acoustics are great.

The history and construction are as worthy as other Roman sites, but the best part was the two small museums in the wings. Both were full of beautiful artifacts, from mosaics to costumes to jewelry, telling about the various groups that have occupied Jordan.

Climb to the top level of the Amphitheatre to view the city and make the connection to the Citadel. Good to have a guide to explain details.

Largest amphitheater in Jordan. Very old and steep! Take care as stone can be slippery. Worth the walk to the top! Cheap ticket entry 2 dinars.
