Colombia's oldest museum holds a vast collection of archeological artifacts, as well as modern art. The building itself is interesting — it's a former prison and many of the galleries are inside former prison cells.

This museum is a mixture of things and facts, all together in this old space used as a prison. Coming from Europe, was nothing so impressive here.

I guess all museums in Bogotá pale in comparison to the famous Gold Museum but the National Museum is worth a visit, if not an extended one. Set in a historical prison, it conveys Colombia‘s rich history vividly.

The building sets the tone for this museum and each floor traces the history of the country. The collection of Colombia artists work is particularly worth seeing as well as the international paintings and sculpture

Highly recommend this memorable and wonderfully laid out museum. The design is wonderful and every style of Colombian art and history is touched on. Spend some time outside in the garden with a coffee afterwards.

Yes, it is. Visiting on working days is preferred than going on the weekends. You can visit after 10:00 a.m. And I believe they close at 4:00 p.m.
