This is a beautiful place to visit when you are in Bucharest. I found it a place of tranquility and calm. The painting on the walls are wonderful and have the advantage of being clearly visible with good light- not always the case.
While strolling downtown Bucharest, on its best known Calea Victoriei Street, one may step into this cool and peaceful religious sanctuary for a few minutes of contemplation or to simply admire the icons and architecture.
We found the icons in this church to be fine examples by local artisans. The depictions of New Testament stories were lovingly expressed, and the church was a fine example of an 18th century orthodox church.
We did not go inside, but the exterior of this church is beautiful, and reflect back to the history of Romania well before the Communist era. What is extra striking is that the church is surrounded by relatively ugly state buildings from the Communist era, and right across the…
