An abundance of birdlife on the lake, and local fishermen out for their catch. You can walk here in 39 mins from suchitoto, but the best 'higher' views are from a couple of the streets or restaurants in town
This lake, formed in 1973 by the damming of the river, is pleasant to look at and a somewhat cooler spot on a hot day in Suchitoto. The floating mats of water hyacinths are attractive. However, the water is polluted and swimming is not recommended.
It costs around $5-6 a car to park down by the lake, from which you can then enjoy the view from one of the nice restaurants by the waterfront. The boat trips seem a little overpriced for the added value (e.g $30pp per half hour),...More
