Our concierge recommended Playa Manuel Antonio, but we wanted to try something quieter. It is a trek down to Playa Biesanz, but the water was very calm and it's a smaller beach. Only downside was high tide. We traveled in late September and the tide...More
This was on the Pacific side of Costa Rica and the water was a beautiful color of blue. The hotel was first class . Went on a catamran and got to see whales and a chance to go snorkeling. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not the best for viewing sunsets as others have said. Plus there are no restaurants or bars within walking distance of this beach. This is a cover that you hike down to and it is surrounded by rocks at the bottom. The vendor selling food and drinks at the beach is selling soft drinks, beer, pipa's and snack type food. They don't have a proper restaurant or bar at this beach.
