A nice, relaxed market full of African souvenirs and handicrafts. It’s low key and friendly. Be ready to barter for your purchase!

A must visit market for a look at the African artist displaying their arts for sale in addition to African cotton shirts and dresses. Bargain is a must here as the asking price is usually multiplied by 5 to start with. A fun place.

Despite all the reviews stating that it is a tourist trap and how the goods are not worth it, if you visit with a bit of cultural sensitivity, it is worth the visit. Know that some of the goods are authentic and some are not....More

The square is a "must see" for all visitors to Cape Town. The problem is that all the stalls sell the same African art and there is not much variety available. The square is surrounded by some coffee shops and restaurants but even that was...More

The market is not what it used to be! It is now a dusty stressful tourist trap where you are compelled to buy goods from the aggressive storekeepers. I was harrassed from the moment I got out of my car by beggars. One even followed...More

It probably was!!!!! Seriously I do not know as they are local market stalls and not static. Have to be put up by hand. Try logging into Tourist information.

Officially, 9am-5pm, but they'll sell earlier if you're there with money and they'll start closing up at 4 if it's a slow day.

9 to 5 according to their website. Be cautious and watchful in this area. We witnessed a necklace snatching and credit card theft just feet from the market perimeter. Once inside the perimeter security is tight.
