We drove in a high clearance SUV from Oudtshoorn to the top of the pass in lashing rain so no views. It can be done in a saloon but SUV easier on the nerves though a 4x4 not necessary. We then repeated the journey two...More

Did this in an SUV which I would advise - the first half is particularly rocky and uneven but we had fun going up it. Once you go over the top it gets even more spectacular - so not one you could go to the...More

We did the pass in an SUV from the Oudtshoorn side - and that was necessary! You need a car with sufficient height for this trip. Relative steep in the second half uphill, with a lot of rocks and holes. Was certainly tough for the...More

This is a steep gravel road. It took us well over an hour to go the 10 miles of the gravel road. It is an amazing feat of engineering, so if you are into that, go for it. But if you are going for views,...More

Starting from Oudteshoorn : can be done without a 4 x 4 : we did it with a Audi A3 but first half sometimes with stones and potholes. Do'nt turn back at the top ! Continue to Prins Albert. This second part is beautifull !...More

An overrated rocky road with good PR. Nothing to write about. Who's gonna return these 90 minutes of my life? Or as they say in yiddish:גורנישט מיט גורנישט

Roads mainly gravel with varied scenery from waterfalls gorges and climb up narrow pass and dropping down on the other side. Needs a whole day-we missed Albert stop to get back by 2.00pm!
