Having been to the Algarve a few times, we had never ventured to the east of Faro so had never visited Ria Formosa Natural Park until this visit. Going in October, it wasn't too hot and we enjoyed a lovely couple of hours wandering around....More

We cycled there from the Real Marina and it was much better than walking. There is a small fee to get in but no facilities except a rather rundown toilet block. Nevertheless it was pleasant to cycle round, seeing the thousands of Fiddler crabs on...More

Staying at the Real Marina we get a good view of the majority of the Real Formosa(even better with binoculars). Boat rides take you closer but to actually experience the Park you have to walk. There is some activity this time of year but you...More

we went to several locations within the park and they were mostly great - a few wet areas sadly dried up - but in general great scenery and good bird-watching

Well worth a wander through the nature zone stretching down the coast. See the amazing crabs with one huge claw by their burrows. Lots of egrets and hoopoes etc

If you visit not expecting much you won’t be disappointed. It’s cheap to get in and roughly a two hour walk around. There is nothing to actually go in and see, no visitor centre, the bird sanctuary apparently needs volunteers to let you in and...More

As tide flows, it's always changing, showing us beautiful views, nice an long sand beaches, clear waters full of life: fish, shellfish, cuttlefish, octopus, and so on. The only problem is being too crowded with pleasure boats during the summer.

There's very little to see in the park, except plants, trees, and birds / duck / geese that will need binoculars. We managed to see ONE chameleon up close, that was literally the highlight of our visit. And once you're in, you're pretty much going...More

Beautiful place where you can relax surround by nature and discover real wild life. We saw alligators swimming around our boat, beautiful birds with theirs little ones, few turtles not mention plants and flowers. Highly recommend

An OK walk with very little to see. The park is poorly maintained and there was very little wildlife to see. It has been very hot and it was low tide so maybe that can account for some of it. A bit disappointed, didn't help...More

No idea but it was quite reasonable. The park itself had a minimal fee and the boat trip was also reasonably priced.

Sorry to be tardy with a reply - been to Portugal for some sun! Yes you can just walk into Jesmond Dene at any of several points. No charges and a nice place to spend a few hours - even better if you have kids, they'll love... More
