It's, well, a reservoir. Large, to be sure, and motors are strictly forbidden. Lots of wind-surfers and deep blue water, but nothing that cannot be seen in many other parts of the world.

Unexpectedly beautiful! The color of the water is almost turquoise! It can get windy and NO swimming. To avoid crowds (and find parking easier), try going on weekdays.

Based on Instagram beautiful shots we visited the Dam. It's pretty but super windy and nothing much to do. It's simply a photo op and back in the car. Don't go there as a destination.

I stopped by here with my wife on a day off from work. This place has some really stunningly beautiful water. You can tell it must have come from the mountains, because it's quite clear and blue. It's very picturesque with the mountains all around...More

Quite busy on the day we were there (a Sunday). Tour hurried us along too quickly (we only had 10mins) enough time for pics but wish we had more time to savour. Go with a small group or hire a car. It is only about...More

We stopped by shortly on our way to Uspallata. Beautiful lake (actually it is a dam), crystal clear waters, lots of trees and some homes on the other side and colorful mountains on the side of the highway where we stopped. The dam was built...More

This is a must if you go to Mendoza from Santiago in Car. You have to go back by south of Mendoza and see Potrerillos Dam. Nice place for photos and if you have time you can do some aquatics sports.

I haven’t seen anyone swimming or even practicing any activity at the Potrerillos Dam. Perhaps you should try Termas de Cacheuta. At the Mendoza river there are some activities, such as canoeing, and rafting
