We've driven the route many times but have not been there in years. This time, we noticed that vegetation and buildings have really started to obscure what used to be lovely creek views. The road is still fun and has a lot of surprises.

Seems like every time we come here there is construction on some part of this two-lane highway that causes a backup for Miles

Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful - red rock massives, Oak Creek, oak trees along the creek and forests on the mountains. There are several camping spots and picnic tables along 89A. There are some pull-outs, but not many. There are several hiking trails in the...More

The road winds its way through the canyon with stunning red rocks and forest on all sides. Unfortunately there aren't enough stopping places, particularly in the northern section, to take photos of the spectacular scenery. However, don't let that put you off. Every turn is...More

Stop at Indian Gardens for a coffee and maybe a cheese tray to share on their deck. Drive carefully up the canyon but the views are the best in Sedona.

Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful with red rock cliffs lining Oak Creek as well as towering yellow and russet toned higher peaks and cliffs. There are trees near the creek as well as cacti amongst the cliffs. It is a beautiful area.

We accidentally ended up in Oak Creek Canyon after we followed a recommendation to visit slide rock state park. The park was way too busy on a Saturday afternoon in late July to visit. So we continued our scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon. It...More

I was driving so really couldn't enjoy the view as much as I would have liked. Take your time and enjoy the road. Be careful of the switchbacks.
