We spent 3 days hiking around Rapa Nui and visiting many Moai sites. The highlights came on our final day when we hiked up to and around the Birdman crater and separately toured the Quarry (source of the Moai). We were fortunate to be guided...More
It is unnecessary to write about the statues and the view- these are incredible, must see once in a lifetime - this is out of question. What I would like to mention here is that I wasn't prepared for before I went there: the park...More

This is a spectacular site to visit especially if you are really intrgued by the Moai. These are the only moai that are facing the ocean and when you arrive there, there is enough information so you don't need a guide. In saying that I...More
Rapa Nui or Easter Island is quite an incredible place. I am so glad I visited this unique place. It does cost 80 dollars or 54000 pesos when you arrive but then all these places to visit are then free. Thought it was steep at...More
Rude rude staff wanting to rip off and "Fine" you for every little thing. Getting overly aggressive at times. Do not go here if you care for your life. Radical community that is just doing whatever they want without any accountability.
The Moai are the main attraction on Easter Island.
The ticket to the national park includes unlimited visits to most of the sites on the island. Two places only allow one visit per trip so as to stop overcrowding of these popular sites.
You must buy entry tickets at the airport, and they only accept USD cash, no credit cards. uSD 80 per person. Two sites you can only visit once: Orongo and Rano Raraku. Absolutely wort it! It's best to plan 5 days on Easter Island, in...More
Not sure what I can say that hasn’t been said before - I’ve seen so many shows about this place but it feels amazing to make this long trip and stand next to them . A feeling of real history.
Also didn’t know there was...More

You can totally do it by yourself in a rental car but there are no docents or signs at parks telling you what you’re seeing and significance. Also, some roads are not really passable by some vehicles so make sure you stick to where rental company directs you. Lastly, the rental agencies have pretty beater cars to rent. Don’t expect nice or new, and you should ask if they have air conditioning. At least with guide vehicles they are newer, can go over any terrain, and they have air.
