A large park designed to honor the historical battlefield. Sadly I was here during Christmas and the grounds were covered in tacky ornaments and bizarre lighting figurines. But an otherwise nice place to stop. The museum was closed when I visited.

Good for a quick stop between Villa de Leyva and Bogota for the history. Busy on Christmas day. Shops and food vendors. Car park and easy to re-join the motorway after.

This historical place teaches you a lot about the battle for independence of Colombia, and it’s also a beautiful and green place to get nice sceneries and go hiking.

It is a large hilly area with several monuments where, in 1819, the armies of Simon Bolivar defeated the Spanish resulting in the liberation of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The bridge is not the original one but was rebuilt in 1939. Many towns...More
