The penguins reside in a series of rocky inlets and beach alcoves in an area just beyond Simons Town. This is an easy drive from Cape Town and a delightful day out. The entire area is set to wooden walkways which meander around the area....More

This was not what we expected. Yes, there are lots of penguins, but you view, not from the beach, but from raised up viewing platforms along with dozens of other people. The penguins were pretty inactive, just standing around. Very few were coming or going...More

I don’t like to see a lot of photographs of places ahead of time so I didn’t realize that there was no walking on the beach near the penguins but you are perched on a boardwalk next to them. I get it, since there are...More

We were advised by the lady at our rental apartment to access the beach from the 2nd entrance not using the broadwalk. There are very large boulders to clamber over to reach the penguins, but you really get the opportunity to get up close and...More

An excellent boardwalk with very informative display boards takes you to the beach where there are a couple of hundred penguins sunning themselves on the beach, including a number of very fluffy youngsters. Great thatyou can get really close to them without actually disturbing them.

Some really good views of the penguins as you walk along the boardwalk. At times you wonder if we are the exhibits being inspected. The penguins are not the most exciting of creatures to watch - they spend a lot of time standing around, but...More
