Amazing Tour of a Magnificent Collection!
What a gem! We took the docent-led tour of the Nethercutt Collection and loved every moment… great information and stories told on all 4 floors, plus time to peruse all of the beautiful and rare items… the cars, organs, and everything in between were amazing. Everyone can find something to love and appreciate about this beautiful collection… thanks to the Nethercutts for sharing it!

    Way beyond my expectations!
Fellow “car guys” had urged me to visit the Nethercutt when I was planning a trip to LA to see car museums. I have to confess that I signed up for the tour with few expectations, feeling that the website was a bit vague. Boy, was I in for a surprise. This place was a delight! The scores of significant vintage cars were wonderful to see. But, even more fun was the display of a host of musical players and instruments. Our tour guide was Kirk, the “curator of music”, who had an obvious affection for that part of the collection, but was just as entertaining in interpreting the cars. He had a great patter and presence that commanded attention and helped convey the significance of the objects. And, I still can’t believe that this experience cost me a total of $10. This has to be the best museum deal anywhere in the country!

I grew up in the Valley...How had I not ever heard about this?
Okay, I am not a car person, so when my friends suggested we go, I thought okay. I had NO IDEA how much I would enjoy this. Each car is a work of art, and what makes the collection so special is the tour itself. Our guide took such pride in explaining the history of the cars and how they had been restored. Since he was the person in charge of the restorations, his stories were fascinating. Whatever you do, do not miss the Nethercutt Museum, filled with even more cars, across the street

Beautiful vehicles and musical instruments, extremely friendly staff. The free museum is wonderfull but the nominal $10 charge for the "collection" tour is a must see. Very educational.

We had heard that this was a great automotive museum, but did not realize how unique it really is. There are 2 non-descript buildings - the main building which is free and has mostly cars from the early 20th century through about the 1960's. My favorites are those from the late 1920's through the early 1940's and there are plenty of them - all gorgeous. And many auto makers I have never heard of (and I go to auto museums regularly). There are also displays of MANY hood ornaments and other car accouterments. The crystal ones are especially pretty. Across the street there is another multi-story building which you can only see by tour (at a very reasonable price). Best to book this in advance, as there are only 2 tours on specific days. This tour was amazing! The cars on the first floor were rare and outstanding - several "best in show" winners. There is a $20 million Bugatti worth the price of admission alone. One floor higher are a number of additional hood ornaments and other auto memorabilia. Then another floor up is the "music room". The museum is privately owned by extremely wealthy (obviously) heirs of the Merle Norman Cosmetic company. They are collectors extraordinaire. The music room hold several special turn of the century operational music boxes, player pianos, etc. Demonstrations of some of them take place during the tour. Everything is in great condition. Who would expect this at a car museum? Thoroughly enjoyable visit.

I consider myself to be a serious vintage car enthusiast. Never have I seen such an impressive collection of award-winning cars in one place! The bonus was to see and hear the vast collection of antique musical machines. Excellent, I highly recommend this as a must-do.

. Its a little out of the way but well worth the drive. You must make reservations to go into the other building to see where the cool cars are. The music room at the top was great

We have been to LA many times, but never heard of this place. I guess the Peterson museum is on everyone’s lips (which is great and more modern) but this museum had an outstanding collection of vintage motor vehicles.

Tip : best to go early to beat the crush. It got busy an after we arrived.
