Away from the city centre you can locate the Adler planetarium, its a marvellous design of a building with fantastic views of the Chicago skyline that are worth the trip out to it if nothing else, and interesting place to visit.

I really didn't know what to expect so I couldn't be disappointed. Yes, there is quite a lot about manned space flights but this is what really fascinates people. It amazes me that you can find so many people that are willing to be blasted...More

We arrived around noon but still had a good chance to view a couple shows and tour the building before closing (which at 4pm seems a bit early for a planetarium). The Jim Lovell exhibit was interesting and it was neat for my grandson to...More

So much has been learned about space in the last twenty years, but you won't find it here. Instead the focus is on manned space flights over half a century ago. There are some fun interactive exhibits for children, including see yourself on infrared and...More

Thank you for the review and feedback! We agree with you about the importance of having new and current exhibits, which is why the Adler is currently constructing a brand new exhibit that is set to open in late-November! This exhibit will be a celebration...More

I grew up near New York City's Hayden Planetarium, and have vivid childhood memories of its enormous and intricate Zeiss projector, prominently perched in the center of the theater and used to create dramatic sky-gazing stories under its magical dome, narrated by a "voice-of-God" storyteller....More

The planetarium has been a staple of Chicago childhoods for generations. Took my kids today because they were off school. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff was worn or closed off. We didn’t have time for the actual planetarium show, but the museum needs an update.More

We had a great day at the planetarium. We saw two shows. The exhibits were fun and interesting for the kids and adults. The sandwiches at the cafe were also good. We will definitely go again the next time we are visiting Chicago.

Heard it was the oldest planetarium in US and had to go. Kids loves it and it was very educational. Some areas were being worked on and could not see telescope due to rain but really glad we went.

Only went here because it was part of the city pass. Of all the places on the pass, this was the most boring! Not much to see or do at this one.

I’d go weekday, but being a major museum in a major city, there are no guarantees.
