This tour is done by the National Park Service. Thus credible information and none of jokes and funnies that are so typical of commercial tours. Our group was fascinated by the history of and the islands and lighthouses in this storied harbor. Of course, cruising...More

The captain wanted a show of "hands" to see if we would continue on to see Graves Lighthouse because the water was slightly rocky and small waves were coming. Of course we all said "yes." I think he would have turned back and disappointed us...We...More

We took the ferry and visited Spectacle and Georges Islands. It was a beautiful August day, and both the boat ride and the time on the islands was a welcome change from the urban hustle and bustle of Boston. We traveled with four kids -...More

The lighthouse tour was a fun and informative tour. The seats on the upper deck were behind the wheelhouse, which made a little it hard to see, but other than that it was perfect. The tour guides were top notch and friendly.

I first caught the ferry to Spectacle Island and later took the inter-island ferry to Georges Island before returning to Boston. I wish that I had had more time to explore these and the other islands further. I thought the $20 cost of the ferry,...More

I’ve lived in Massachusetts my entire life, and only recently heard about the harbor islands. Most people, when visiting Boston probably prefer to spend their days walking the freedom trail, exploring a museum or two and dining in the North End. An escape to the...More

Because of the ferry schedule it's difficult to plan a short trip. I'd recommend George's island - head out in the morning, explore the fort (a highlight) and back in the afternoon. Unless you have your own boat and can... More

Maybe. Best to check with the National Parks service Boston area. Know that there is a fun, spooky Halloween event on the island with the fortress very soon.
