We were staying at Noro Dawas which was maybe a 30 - 45 minute drive from Twyfelfontein so definitely worth visiting. There was shaded parking available for the car and a short walk to reception. Entry fee is only payable in cash. Our guide, Martin,...More

I could not believe how close we were able to get to the rock art of the area and how well preserved the engraving are thousands of years after they were made. The guides are very knowledgeable and do not rush you around the site....More

Many rock paintings and quartz-cut rock engravings made over a period from perhaps 6000 to 1000 years ago. Hunting scenes, animal engravings (including seals), chimera, diagrams conjectured to be maps. With guidance you can stray from the main path and see more than the 'standard'...More

The lodge is really beautiful and very well integrated into nature. The receptionist as well as all staff were super friendly. The view from the breakfast room is also very nice and the breakfast (as well as dinner) varied. The rooms are large and nicely...More

The drawings are not very interesting, nor are their origins or meaning clear. They may be very old (in which case there are more interesting drawings/paintings elsewhere of a similar age. Or they may be quite recent, in which case, they are really not interesting....More

It is a long way on very rough gravel roads but it is a very interesting site when you reach it. A guide meets you on your arrival and takes you around. There is a little scrambling so people with limited mobility may find it...More

Not to far from area camps. Short hike to see the first three plates then about an additional half hour to see the rest. They are interesting and in good shape but not significantly better than other sites. If here it’s OK to visit but...More

Off the beaten track but well worth going. You have to go with a guide - in fact you need one to show you the Rock Art and to explain what you are seeing. It is amazing to think that these images have existed for...More

We visited this site late September. The 2000 years to 6000 years old rock engraving was fascinating and well worth seeing. However the path leading to the sites are minimally improved. Those with limited mobility ability should avoid the visit. Our tour leader, her name...More

I'm afraid that I can't be completely reassuring, although the definitive answer may be dependent upon the weather. I recall a bumpy unpaved road from the main highway (C-39?) to Twyfelfontein, which wouldn't be a... More

Hi Laryssa, I can't remember the exact opening time, the staff at !Dornawas indicated it was open at 8:30 (as I remember it) it's really laid back and they have a lot of guides. It's completely safe as a location and tour.
