We wandered from the Sol Dunas all the way around the lighthouse and to Santa Maria. It takes 90 minutes and a bit of a slog on the sand but we really enjoyed it. Half way, you come to the Rui hotels and that's where...More

Wanting a walk we turned left out of our hotel and walked down a track. We couldn’t understand why so many cars with tourists were stopping for a short photo opportunity - then realised we had arrived at Pria de Santa Maria! Glorious spot

Beautiful beach, clean and warm. Relaxed and quiet environment with lots of small restaurants to enjoy a cold drink and fresh fish and salads. The strong northeast wind cools you down but don’t forget your sunscreen

Did not like the pier due to the smell of fish. Men have to wear tops in bars. Shop around for gifts - there is not much choice but the cost varies quite a bit.

Beautiful sand, clear blue sea, loads of little brightly coloured fishes, lots of sunshine. It could very well of been in the Caribbean.

What a fantastic place! You can watch the fisherman bringing their catches to the pier about 12 and the women cleaning and gutting ready for the locals to buy. Men spear fishing and diving for shells. The museum is a place where you can find...More
