You could spend a week in the area if you want to see more than the highlights. You need a vehicle to get to all the gorges and to get to most of the walks. Amazing geological and some historic sites with a light scattering...More
This is an amazing National Park. The first day we drove out to Sacred Canyon which was spectacular and really interesting with the ancient Indigenous engravings. That night we stayed at Willow Springs Station which was wonderful, far less commercialised than at Wilpena Pound.

Rawnsley Park was good when we stayed there many years ago and I know it has been improved since then. Wilpena is good of course but in summer total fire bans are likely. Angorichina in Parachilna Gorge is good for camping... More
Rawnsley Park was good when we stayed there many years ago and I know it has been improved since then. Wilpena is good of course but in summer total fire bans are likely. Angorichina in Parachilna Gorge is good for camping, caravans and cabins, but thunderstorms and flash floods may raise the river and cut the roads for short times.
