While we have been to Charleston many times, we never made it out to Ft. Sumter until this visit. So glad we did! A beautiful 1/2 hour boat ride, first of the day, out to the fort. The guide on the boat was fantastic. At...More

This was one I'd been looking forward to and it did not disappoint. Well organised and well run from start to finish - we felt well informed and entertained as well as safe in the hands of the rangers and the boat crew. Spotting dolphins...More

The building where you go is not the actual monument. It is out in the river basin and you can't go there, just look at it.

Great history lesson for the whole family. Although I recall the history lesson from school, it is a great to see historical visit for the whole family without taking an entire day. Total of about two hours for the entire visit!

The boat ride takes about 30 min one way. Once on the island you have about 60 min to roam around then all head back. Signage is good on the island and the park rangers give a great 10 min intro before roam time.
