Don’t waste your time going to Beale Street before 11.am because nothing is open. There is a $5 cover charge per person to enter most venues with a live band, where as it is free to go into any place in Nashville! It is an...More

The street has so much to offer. The food, bands, drinks, and people were so great. I am glad my wife put us up at a hotel a block off Beale. We enjoyed our time there and I look forward to going back

This is basically a bar crawl - think 6th St in Austin, Bourbon St. in New Orleans, Broadway in Nashville. On weekend nights the street is full of people, you can drink on the street so all the beers come in plastic cups you can...More

So it's one of those things you have to do if you're in Memphis, but basically it's a street full of bars and people wandering from bar to bar. There are several store fronts selling beer and drinks so you can wander along with your...More

Having experienced Nashville and it's entertainment, was looking forward to the Memphis equivalent. A bit disappointed- run down, dirty, didn't feel that welcoming. I guess if you are all about the blues it might be for you, but as a general music fan and tourist,...More

Not different from New Orleans or Austin or Nashville. Lots of lights and bars. We were early enough that people weren’t drunk yet. We had our children with us, and there is nothing to do there other than to go drinking and listening to band...More

Our family went to Beale Street on a warm Saturday evening in October. After a nice meal, we walked along the street visiting a number of shops. At one of them I told the guy at the cash register (who had asked where we were...More

We walked around the street after dinner. There were families with kids of varying ages. I think the atmosphere is fine. I wouldn't leave my teen aged children on their own.
