We chose to do the 17 mile drive on a very cold day. The views from the gift shop are amazing and there is a good visitor center with exhibits that we enjoyed especially the Navajo Code Talkers. While the vistas are nice, we had...More

My partner and I split right before this trip and I decided to go alone. When I entered the road for Monument Valley, they gladly accepted my $20 entrance fee and told me the route I could take in my car. My car is a...More

No other place like this on our planet. 300 miles from anywhere and oh so worth it. GO! Do a morning tour before the crowds build. Stay at The View hotel for easy access and comfy surrounds.

The road was long and horrible! Thought I would get 4 flat tires, also passed a tow truck, turned around. They did have a nice film of the area and had 7 different spots, but $30.00 a car, do I didn't see more. The also...More

Rather than take one of the organised tours we decided to drive our SUV rental and had no problem driving up from the View hotel to John Ford’s point. There are loads of wonderful view points to stop off at - a must do

Beautiful landmark. I would think the best view would be coming from the West but doesn't matter because you can pull off from both sides a take pictures.

Stay the night to see the stars. This is on the Navajo Reservation where they work and live. Worth the trip.

interesting forms of rocks in the desert. The drive was beautiful. We drove in the early morning so the earth was just waking up.

Here is my take on this, since everyone may be a bit different in what their preferences are. I will get technically theoretical and do the math. Let's say you drive 15 mph over the 17 miles - 1.25 Hrs About five stops to... More

You can do it by going straight north through Flagstaff. Though Flagstaff gets good snow, the roads are usually clear.
