A perfect place for a stop after walking from Porto to Gaia!
Had a marvellous wine tasting with portuguese cheese and charcuterie.
Compared to other Caves around, I didn’t fine Calém to be expensive (although it is not cheap either).
All I wanted was a nice solid meal with no excitement or drama. Found this beautifully calm and re energizing restaurant right on the river with the most amazing and courteous staff I have found in all of my travels. Highly recommended and encouraged.
It is not a long visit around 35 minutes and you can learn a lot of things regarding the different Porto Wines and how to make them
It is not a museum, the facility is still running and they use the visits as a way...More
My husband and I decided on a second port tour, this time with Calém. A larger cave than the earlier one we visited, and there were similarities in content with both tours each ending with a tasting. However, it lacked the personable intimacy perhaps because...More
We chose the best tour we could find, including the 4D cinema (was great) and added to it the bottle of vintage port and cheese board at end.. Our guide was terrific. The tour was one of best in Portugal. WE spent the money and...More
I try to avoid negative reviews, but I think that the tour of Ca'lem warrants an exception given that here are better options and they could do so much more.
You enter the interactive museum 15 minutes before the scheduled start. If I am charitable...More

We visited here as thought as in porto had to visit a port cave/cellar. You start in the museum where you have 15 minutes to look around before the tour starts. When the tour starts you start in another museum room with the same stuff...More
For 13€ you get a 30 mins tour of the caves with a full explanation of its history and how the port wine is made. There are tours in different languages and they are frequent which you can't find in some other caves. Well worth...More
A nice tour overall, but could have easily been more informative, and more in-depth.

I really enjoyed the walk tour. It was around 3 hours, then you have an option to be taken to s local restaurant ( not included) in the package. That should give you a lovely history on Porto before you tasting in the evening. Have fun !

I think it is worth doing. I think we were in the building for about 90 minutes. There’s an interactive educational area before you go in for the tour and there were young children in thee who seemed entertained. There are buttons to press, lights come on etc. I’m not sure they appreciated what the lights meant, but they were entertained!
