About
At the edge of the Pacific, beachcomb, build sand castles or bonfires, but don't swim. The tumultuous waters can be too rough to handle.

...and got what I came for!! I came early morning aiming for low tide so I could find empty sand dollars a few hours before my flight. Wasn't sure I'd find any and if it'd be worth the visit as the beach wasn't supposed to...More

Between high surfcausing rip currents and a cold ocean keeping the fog near, there was not much to this beach. I am sure, with some sun, it would be worth a repeat visit, but this is more of a kiter's dream.

Wow! What a beautiful beach. We first explored the cave and then we worked our way to the other side of the beach. Climbing on the rocks can be a little dangerous so I would start from the other side of the beach. If you...More

Ocean Beach in San Francisco runs for over two miles. From the Cliff House to beyond the foot of Sloat Blvd across from the San Francisco Zoo. The depth of the beach depends on the tides and the winds. A great spot to relax and...More

While exploring the area around Golden Gate Park, we came across this beach, where we could stop and relax on the sandy beach from our excursions through SF. Beach can also be reached by public transport.

Large beach on the Pacific side of San Francisco, easily accessible via public transportation. Not very pleasant in a very cold and windy August day.

A vast expanse of the Pacific, beautiful beach, windy in the evening. Great place to walk towards the Cliff hotel and Landsend

If you can stand the fog, this is an incredible Pacific Ocean beach. Lots of sand and lots of water, but it's cold. No bikinis here.

Visiting San Francisco can be a bit stressful. Lots of people and little space. Ocean Beach is the perfect antidote. This beach is never crowded, there is tons of FREE long term parking. Fresh air, ocean view. No it's not Hawaii, but it is a...More

Visited again this trip and not disappointed. There is always something going on, beach volleyball, indivisible bbq’s which must be contained which was a great idea.

There are a few pieces. I was able to collect some pretty pink pieces. If you like whole sand dollars, this is the place (provided you get to them before the seagulls do)!

Yes. Ocean Beach in San Francisco is very popular with dog owners because dogs are allowed on the beach off-leash from stairwell 1 to stairwell 21. South of stairwell 21, dogs must remain on leashes.
