Went here on a Sunday afternoon after visiting the french market. The streets littered with trash, a drunk puking in a trash can, many homeless and drinkers out on the street. Did hear some good jazz coming out of one place but too crowded to...More

Of course everyone goes to Bourbon Street which we loved but Frenchmen Street is a must for its amazing sounds.

Music on the street corner and overflowing from multiple venues along the street - no cover charges - a wonderful way to experience many types of music!

Visit this amazing street, but go inside the nicer clubs. Music is why you are there! DBD, Blue Nile and similar clubs well worth the cover charge, usually 10 to 15 dollars.

We wanted to listen to real Jazz. Good Jazz. Frenchmen St is busy, bars all have music and the crowds are great. We stopped at Snug Harbor, cover charge was $30.00 each but was well worth it. As we were told "we get the best...More

Great music, great food, great time. We really had a wonderful time. So much better than Bourbon Street. I can't wait to go back again.

Got to the Spotted Cat ... great jazz and vibe! Less well known area than other places in the French Quarter and better for it

This is, as we noticed, the new Bourbon street. At least regarding Music. Bands everywhere. Brass, cover. But we went for the brass bands all the time.

Beautiful, lively. Lots to see and do. Lots of performers later in the day. LOVED the lady who was singing outside Rouse's grocery!

You get the music, the crowds, and the food without the puke and horrible smell! I loved this part of the French Quarter and could spend my entire four day trip exploring here.

We ate and listened to a set of jazz at Snug Harbor. Maybe call there and ask. I don’t remember seeing children, but since it’s a restaurant too that might help.
