We drove Iron Mountain North to South going to Custer State Park Wildlife Loop. We were told going S to N the tunnels frame-up Mt Rushmore. This drive became our favorite drive with all of the twists, turns, pigtail turns, bridges, scenic overlooks, deer, wildlife...More

While visiting Mt Rushmore, should take this side road. Did as part of a tour we were on and well worth it. Some nice views of Mt Rushmore from the road.

A beautiful place to take your time, drive slowly and take in the sights. Loved coming through a couple of the tunnels and having a view of Rushmore as you exit.

It took awhile to make this drive. Not real appealing for small children, but enjoyed the views and the fall colors. It was especially neat seeing Mount Rushmore through the tunnels.

Don't plan to go fast but you won't want to. Very enjoyable drive. Be sure to look for Mount Rushmore through the tunnel.

Not for the faint of Heart bit we;; worth the nerves it takes. Your will see multiple narrow tunnels and a camper is not recommended on this road. Great surprise view of Mount Rushmore through one of the tunnels.

What a treat to drive this beautiful and scenic hiway. From the spectacular, narrow one way tunnels that frame the view of Mt. Rushmore, to the pigtail curves, to the panoramic views, the experience is outstanding.

If you have plenty of time to make the trip I would head west to Colorado Springs and check out Garden of the Gods. Best free city park in the U.S.
