Enjoyed walking around this historic district especially after taking Underground tour and learning the history. I do not think I would venture down there at night. Sketchy characters hanging out. Felt very safe during the day.

Pioneer Square was nice. There were plenty of restaurants and bars. Yes, there were homeless people but they did not bother you. Homelessness seems to be a problem in the Northwest since Vancouver had the same problem. But you could walk without fear. t

This is a very decorative beautiful area. A nice place to see the buildings, iron gates, bookstores, artist galleries, shops and places to eat. It has some great coffee shops, and especially the hand-made glass studio. Highly recommended to see.

It was nice to walk around but the majority of place were restaurants and not much shopping. I went here to shop with my daughter for her 15th birthday and we were both disappointed because of the lack of shopping.

Pioneer Square is a good place to enjoy the beauty of the city, with its steep inclines, mix of water and architecture, et al.

Nice to see historic structures and area updated and protected - wish it could be cleaner. Not as many homeless people as two years ago - feels a bit safer.

Was not a family-friendly place to go to, especially at night. Directions to points of interest were nearly non-existent.

Why does this make guide books? Sure the architecture is nice, but just strolling around and bothering to look up will get you that. Don’t come here: it smells, it’s populated by the homeless and bewildered tourists. We arrived and just called an Uber to...More

My wife and I cut through Pioneer Square to go to Smith Tower. We watched a homeless woman follow a family with with young kids cursed and harass them. Yes the historic building's are pretty, but it's not worth the smell of urine.

We had a reservation at the Best Western Hotel Pioneer Square but canceled due to pioneer square being over-run by homeless. The city has allowed the homeless to squat and overrun pioneer square. Its now a scary area to be and no longer safe..and scared...More

I would say no. This is no longer a family friendly place to go. Anywhere in Seattle you must be careful due to the agressive homeless population

You have to take a tour. It is not a connected labyrinth and access points require entering establishments and going into their basements or opening alleyway doors with keys. Anyway, the tours are cheap and interesting and... More
