About
Though not as tall as Yosemite Falls, Vernal Fall is popular for the green foliage that surrounds it year-round and the rainbow mist it produces as the water cascades.

Mid October is our dry season. The hike & falls are beautiful but water is very low, therefore no mist for the falls. Loved this hike but there are no signs from the parking lot. I haven’t been here for 12 years so I was...More

Very steep hike up a mostly paved path to some gorgeous falls. The trail follows the river up to the base of Vernal Falls. You can additional hike further on up some (big, slippery, steep) stairs to the top of Vernal falls and the Emerald...More

Depends on your hiking experience. I d rate it as easy but i can see why it is marked as moderate. It starts flat and then climbs quite a lot. The last part is slippery. If you want to reach the top you will have...More

This is great walk to the falls. It is all uphill and rather strenuous in terms of walking but worth it when you get to the falls. Try to avoid holiday weekends as it gets very crowded and can be a bit dangerous at the...More

Great hike to the base of the falls. Allow 3 hrs return trip. Lots of stairs climbing as part of the trail is steep so wear hiking shoes. There is a water station half way into the hike but the restroom was closed.

Via the Mist Trail we went to Vernal Falls. A short walk up some slippery rock stairs to emerald pools for a short brake and back to the beginning of the falls via the John Muir trail. An exhausting day due to the heat but...More
