The parking here was very weird, and can only imagine what it's like during peak season. Seemed like we walked forever after parking to get to the actual visitor center. And then it was hard to find our way around (very few of the signs...More

Recommend that you make this the first stop on your visit to Yosemite because the staff can give you lots of useful information on what to see and the levels of difficulty of various trails. You can then plan your day accordingly

I learned a lot and the shopping was special because all the proceeds benefit the Yosemite Conservancy. Shop here, NOT the Village Store. Both of the videos were excellent and the exhibits were most educational and well done.

Nice exhibits. Park rangers are very helpful. It's fun to listen to others asking questions - some of the questions are pretty out there - and listening to how well the Rangers handle them. There are also two movies; both are worth it as long...More

Some of the displays from my childhood are still in the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, and some are updated. I especially appreciate the geologic displays and information. Rangers were available to answer questions, though I did not have any questions to ask.

Make your way to the center to get a good orientation to the park's many features. Parking can be hard to find in mid-summer, so plan for an early start. The park shuttle service is one of the best of any national park and it...More

The center has an excellent exhibit about the formation of the valley. I like the explanation about how all the granite came about. In back of the center is a theater that shows films about Yosemite on the half hour.

The Yosemite Valley Visitor Centre is in the middle of the village in the Yosemite Valley. It is nestled between the Ansel Adam Gallery and Yosemite Museum and is open from 9-5pm daily. This is the main resource in the Valley for information related to...More

There are small museums and samples of Native American teepee's and a sweat lodge in the area. Also, a big shop, restrooms and food places.

We stayed in El Portal on rt 140. Perfect location. Rented the only house in ElPortal right on the river. It was excellent.

Maybe the ranger on the Yosemite Facebook page knows. Note that questions posted on the TripAdvisor Yosemite forum will be answered the same day that they are asked. This Q&A feature is seldom viewed by anyone.
