This "zoo" is just heartbreaking. I echo everything that's been said about small enclosures and the state of the animals - but at this point, what's the alternative for these poor things? I walked over to the red coyote enclosure, and s/he trotted over, sniffed...More

This zoo needs to shut down, Obviously there are no animal rights in Panama. The cages are so small that animals go mad. Imagine big cats in a 3X3 meter cage. Very sad. I regret visiting and supporting this "zoo".

Nice place! full of green, flowers and very peaceful. We went at 8.30 am and spend 2 hours arounds, enjoying the view of the mountains and walking around. You have to visit it!

I enjoy wildlife and understand that the animals in this zoo are injured or otherwise could not survive in the wild. However, it still breaks my heart to seem such majestic animals in captivity. Also, it would be so much better for the animals and...More

Even if the zoo tries to provide for rescued animals, the place is not suitable for any of them. The enclosures are very small, the floor is made of stone, there is nothing in them. The 2 jaguars were in a temporary cage (due to...More

By not going how are you really helping ? Is it going to help animals with less money coming in? The best thing to do is keep going and say this place is a great concept and we’re all appreciative you are trying to rescue...More

Before going, please know this place was not built as a zoo. It was a botanical garden, and the exhibits were started by the owners brother who is a veterinarian. Most of the animals are brought there because they are injured. I was the only...More

I read the reviews and put the zoo at the bottom of our list but decided to try it out as the butterfly haven is closed on Tuesdays. Maybe they changed the exhibits but in general they were as large as any I've been to...More

This place is a waste of time & money. Should be shut down given the conditions the animals live in. Went for frog exhibit which was so poorly done. Staff aloof. Skip.

Horrible zoo. Good with their frogs but that's it. The cages arw small with no place to hide. The jaguar cage has no stimulation and is not big enough for the two cats that live there. They had a coyote dog hybrid in a teeny...More

The Zoo el Nispero is a sanctuary for animals that were confiscated by the government authority. Every animal comes in "as-is." Because it's not a regular zoo, finances are hard to come by and are privately funded. Of... More
