Obviously the experience depends on weather (thermals), time of day, and time of year. We were given a 70% probability of seeing Condors. We were there for 90 minutes and during that time we had several dozen sightings. Two birds actually landing and resting only...More

Whatever you do, get there early. There's no guarantee you'll see Condors, especially of the weather is not right, but when they start to glide up from the canyon and fly right overhead, you'll be rewarded. When we were there, a coach party arrived about...More

good place. Most tours to colca canyon stop here, so don't go out of your way to get there on your own. Great view of the mountains, I guess some people go and don't see any condors, but we saw about seven so it was...More

The scenery is amazing. It was a long slow ride to the cross but well worth it. We saw 5 Condors in all, varying ages. They are beautiful to watch as they glide through the valley. The cross is the ideal place to see them,...More

The condors are active before ten in the morning, so be there to see these beautiful flying creatures swooping everywhere. You look down into the gorge, which is 1,200 meters to the bottom. Three times the depth of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Just seeing the Colca Canyon would in itself have been a wonderful experience. What we had been hoping to see, however, were the condors. We were not disappointed. Our guide had shown us the best place from which to watch, and had timed our arrival...More

I visited the Colca Canyon few months ago, I did it by taking a tour bought in the center of the city of Arequipa. They picked me up at 3 am from my hotel on San Francisco Street to go to the Colca Canyon. After...More

Once you survived one of the "10 deadliest roads" on Earth - or at least so it seems - you will arrive from Chivay to the Cross of the Condor at around 3.800 meters above sea level. Make sure that you will be there early,...More

The Condor’s Cross is located on the left-side of the Colca canyon at El Mirador Cruz Del Condor (3700M). This is a lofty lookout over the beautiful Colca Canyon, home to a relatively large population of Andean condors (can weigh up to 12 kg with...More
