The oasis is beautiful to be sure but it is expensive, touristy and just plain overrated. The hike into Colca Canyon is difficult and this place just wasn't worth the effort of the hike. Especially when considering you have to hike back out.
We got there on our own by hiking from Cabanaconde, without tour. It is an established green area in the middle of nowhere. It is a great challenging hike to get there. It offers various resorts with swimmingpool (which is very nice after an early...More
Nice little settlement close to Cabanaconde.

I was looking for a relaxed atmosphere where to stay for the night after walking for +25km in the Colca Canyon. Arrived at San Galle and I could hear loud dance music (Western) and the area is packed with hotels with pools. Prices are very...More
We did 2 day/one night trek to Colca Canyon, it was a long walk down to Sangalle Oasis but the first day is not that tough. It seemed like we all booked with different agencies and been sent as a group of 8 people. Breakfast/lunch...More
