Amazing archeological site built by the Chachapoyas civilization. The views form the top of the fortress and the cable car that takes people up to Kuelap are spectacular .

I visited Machu Picchu four years ago and while I enjoyed it, it was too overcrowded for me to love it. Kuelap is just starting to get on people’s radar, but it’s harder to get to which, in my opinion, makes it more rewarding too!...More

It is a great place to try Amazonia food. they have a drink with ants from the jungle. Quite good! service was very gentle but slow!

Closed some Mondays for maintenance. I think every other. They will tell you in town.

Chachapoyas backpackers is a hostal and they arrange tours. They don't take a commission and go by mini busses to the main sites. Kuelap for a day is 60 sol including transport and guide!! They also do other day trips but... More
