I was glowing with radioactivity after beautiful now off to chemo..
Life is short why not.
But the gas was kinda expensive riding around and some bugs. Looks very industrial.
Not allowed in conservation area so parked on trail walked down to river and jumped in. Conservation area torn up by non responsible ATVs.

Incredible massive old pit mine. Can really get a good view from the parking lot area. However information signs needed to be replace and the parking and viewing area in general need to be fixed up.

This is a cool spot to drive into and take a look at. Understandably, you're not allowed to enter into the premises.

It is amazing how deep it is. Pictures don't do it justice. The water is fairly clear and you can see from into the water. It is fed naturally.

Visited in the winter and the water in the mine had solidified.
The icicles on the edges and the ice lake looked like an exclusive ice skating rink and had a different beauty to it.
Worth checking out in the winter too.

A great place to visit and take photos....a huge mine that has filled with water. It speaks to the history of Marmora...Iron Town....it employed many people...and supported the town.

We were in the area and decided to stop. There are boards explaining the history. No one was there when we went. There's a walking path and good view points for pictures.

Its a nice spot to take a few photos and has an important history for the area.
There is not a lot that can be done, just a spot from where the mine can be viewed.

A friend recently recommended that I stop by the Marmora Mine pit when I was driving down highway 7 between Peterborough and Ottawa. I took him up on this recommendation. Tucked away a few hundred meters off the highway is the vast expanse of the now closed Marmora Mine. It is a site to see, safely behind a chain link fence as it is 2800' long and 1500' wide. Although 700 feet in depth most of that lies below brilliant blue water that has filled the pit. The site has a couple descriptive signs which highlight this pit mines rich history.

A very interesting part of Ontario's history that could be showcased a bit better. With stopping at but not worth going out of your way or going as a "destination".
