The Epping Ongar Railway is a volunteer run heritage railway which operates steam and diesel hauled trains through 5.5 miles of picturesque rolling countryside and through Epping Forest, along the former London Underground Central Line. We run a variety of special events through the year, including Peppa Pig, 1940's, Halloween Ghost Trains, Santa and Mince Pie Specials. Just as it says in the brochure - an elderly bus picks you up from Epping station and takes you to North Weald station. Lovely welcoming teams and superb restoration of the old station. Pretty route especially through the forest.

A fantastic nostalgic visit. All the volunteers are amazing.The old steam trains take you on a great ride. The route master bus bought back so many memories.

THe best place, in my opinion, to start will be Ongar as there is public parking quite close to the railway and it is free on Saturdays and Sundays, however you should plan to be there reasonably early as parking is limited... More
