The lake valley is best accessed from the A591 where easy walks are possible through the fields and down to the shore. Do try to visit the picturesque St Bega Church remotely sited on the shores of the lake. Close by is Mirehouse and its...More

Viewed from the main road heading towards Keswick. Breathtaking scenery and apparently the only lake in the lake district. The others are 'meres' or 'water.

The most Northern of the Lake District lakes. The only one with nesting Ospreys, best seen from Dodd fell.

A sunny day and a lake as smooth as a millpond with the hills as a backdrop. A bit wet in places but flat, easy walking.

This is in the northern part of the Lake District, which means it is less popular but just as beautiful. It is less crowded but has just as many wonderful walks and things to do and see.

Hello, I'm sorry you have been misinformed, we didn't cycle round Bassenthwaite lake. Just had a brilliant stay at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel.
