AMAZING park! We scored the nicest site in the park… on the beach with hydro. We were swimming in the Lake… absolutely fabulous!! Staff are amazing!! The one guy (wears a high vis shirt, tall with glasses) came to tell us what they were doing (putting in posts) and apologized for the noise (there was none) AND leant us a much needed plunger! Fabulous park

On our way home from Neys and managed to score a great private back in site for our 5th wheel! Backed onto the beautiful sandy beach with great views of Lake Superior! Site #349. Great park with lots of sites for big rigs!

We stayed in a yurt at site 124 for two nights Fri-Sunday. Had we been staying in tents in the previous week I think we would have appreciated it more but we had such nice cabins and otentiks at Neys, Sleeping Giant, and Pukaskwa this week that this felt like a downgrade.

Cons: Yurt at 1124 is a little more worn and rough around then edges than the yurts we have stayed in at other parks. (it may just be older in fairness.) Seems a little less polished overall and a bit less private than yurts at the 700s sites. The beds were kind of awful. I am 6'2" so i was sleeping diagonally on the double bed, and the metal (futon?) frames were sagging/bent in the middle which meant i had a huge bend in the middle that was not great. (The top bunk might have actually been better. The newer wood bunks at other parks are better IMHO.

It was noisy - I assumed people were exaggerating the highway noise but it was pretty noticeable. Site 124 is close enough to the front gate that we heard a lot of trailer drivers hitting the speed bump too fast, and I swear someone was singing karaoke at one point (thankfully stopped by the time we went to bed!). I sleep with earplugs and it didn't bother us much at night but if you are particularly sensitive to noise consider that in your plans. I suspect it's quieter overall during the week, and other sites seemed a bit quieter than ours as we walked around.

Pros: The beach is gorgeous and the yurt is super close to the beach. We had a bit of a hot humid day so we alternated sitting on the beach and cooling our feet off before finally taking the plunge for a chilly swim. Yurt had a fridge which is not common at other parks. It's not super close but it is an easy walk to the comfort station, and there was a water tap close by.

Overall: Well worth a visit for the beach and I would recommend it despite some of my negative comments above. I would stay again but plan accordingly for the mattress.

Visiting my sister at her camping spot, we took a walk up the trail to the lookout. It was mostly good walking with a few challenging places due to recent rain but well worth the effort to walk the distance and enjoy the view. Recommended.

The local smoked fish at the Campers Grocery 12502 hwy 17 North is made by the store attendant's mother. Being a fish lover, I wanted to buy all they had, we ate 3 fish in the parking lot before we got to the car! She told us to come back in the morning as her Mom would be bringing in a fresh batch. This fish treat outshines everything else but their land!

At Pancake Bay we could have taken the Edmund Fitzgerald Trail, but it would take longer than we had, so instead took the 3 km medium difficulty Nature Trail. There were many signs confirming different points of interest like the fact land was underwater, evidenced by the ridges and the huge billion-year-old conglomerate. There were different kinds of trees, fens and bogs. Parts of the trail were waterlogged as we were beside a meandering creek for most of the way. The best part for me was seeing the many, many, many mushrooms on display. I lost count at 12 different kinds…..

Spent a lovely night here on my way to Thunder Bay. Unfortunately, had to leave with my ride this morning and my cat Mittens was nowhere to be found. Have a look around for him if you stop in. We were in 104 and Mittens is a grey with white paws neutered male about six years old. Thank you.

We traveled from Manitoba to all of the east coast this summer, staying at more than 50 Provincial Parks in all provinces. This is the WORST! Don't count on the Campers Grocery Store of anything. Make sure you have at least 200 feet on electrical cord to plug in. Campsites are not large by any sense, other people on review are not telling the whole truth on that. Number 17 Highway is a lot closer than the site map portrays and is NOT fenced off, so please if you are camping with children be aware of that. The fill and dump stations are at the other end of the campground sooo if you are camping around the office area you will need to go through the entire campground to fill with water and after to dump, watch the stupid speed bumps. Finally, don't plan on doing any laundry, 2 working washers, 3 out of order dryers. We stayed in site 324, stay closer to the beach. One star only because of the dog beach! Most of the great reviews are from tenters next to the beach.

One of our favourite provincial parks. We've been camping for years, and have seen many styles of PP camping. Everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to preferences. This one would be my happy place. The beach itself is incredible. You can walk the beach for several km's, the water (while chilly) is crystal clear. There's hardly any rocks or debris and the sand is soft. The park is well maintained, clean comfort stations, the staff are friendly and not overly strict like some parks (I'll explain...some PP rangers will attend your site if they hear you talking at your site past 11 ... which is ridiculous. As long as you're being respectful with no music and keeping your voices down, there shouldn't be any reason for anyone to stop by)

Close by are several hiking trails with incredible view points. Sault Ste Marie is in close proximity if you want to day trip into town and see some of the sites there. The Agawa Crafts store is located a couple km's down the road and has a camp store, ice cream and a unique gift shop.

I highly recommend this park to anyone who loves the beach and lazy summer days. I would also recommend that you try to get sites closer to the beach. This park is located close to the highway and if you're on one of the back sites you will hear the traffic, but in my opinion, that never bothers me.

Most beautiful beach we have ever been to. Sites were a bit noisy with proximity to the highway but the scenery made up for it. Not much else to do here though besides beach it.
