Pietrasanta is a pretty town where the Church of Pietrasanta faces the long square in front of the monumental church and convent of Sant'Augusto. Built by the Lucchese in 1255 the Church preserves in large part its 14th century Gothic outline. Inside are well-known 15th...More

PIETRASANTA WAS A LOVELY OLD TOWN IN THE NORTH OF ITALY - known for Artistic ventures. A quiet place to stay and use as a base to travel by train to other nearby places. The Duomo was a small and calming church in the town.

Although I am not religious, I really enjoyed the stained glass and the beautiful architecture. That church was the highlight of my trip there, didn't expect it to be so big and grand for such a small town. I think going to mass there will...More

Part of the amazing piazza, but not the oldest building here, either. A local mentioned to us that the coat of arms on the Duomo (the six balls arranged in a pyramid like structure) indicates the Medici family (that had marble and other trading interests...More

Sat sipping coffee in one of the many cafés in this pedestrianised piazza. Lovely and relaxed. Art everywhere!

The Church was open so we went it. Small and very beautiful. The leadlight window is amazing. Worth a visit.

It is well worth going inside. It is a beautiful, peaceful place. It does look as if it isn't open from the front as the doors are closed but they do push open. The art is well worth seeing.

Decided on a local bus journey to Pietrasanta and we were not disappointed. This church has everything and is a delight from floor to ceiling. Marble, pictures, sculptures, all amazing, the doumo should not be missed. Take time to see the art display outside.

When I arrived at 11am Sunday morning a service was just starting with 2 children beig s christened and a lovely childrens choir singing and a good number of people inthe congregation. So this added a delightful atmosphere which brought the Duomo to life.
