Two hour sunset ride

Awesome ride. I hadn't been on a horse in years and the guide really did a good job explaining the basics. Really nice sunset view. Definitely worth the trip.

My experience with the Rio Grande Stables was significantly less than satisfactory, to say the least. They own 7 stables in different states, and when I called to book a ride in New Mexico, the woman on the phone accidentally scheduled a ride in one of their Texas stables. Long story short, When me and my girlfriend arrived at the... More

Trail had some interesting treachery built in, but always safe and horses were steadily sure-footed. We embarked on a three-hour ride ( a just-right for most who just want a full experience. I trust even greater beauty lay ahead for the longer ride.) Directions good, yet unfamiliar to actual town/lodging area vs. lift area makes for some confusion when coming... More

We took the 3 hour ride up 1500 ft of elevation. Views and feel are beautiful. Guide very outgoing. However, the horses were stubborn and not easy to control. It was the end of the day and my horse going back down lost its footing numerous times. It seemed tired as did its back legs. Its worth doing, but probably... More

I arranged for my wife and I to do the four hour tour with lunch. Two hours on the horses with a lunch break and then two more hours of riding. It was an amazing trip and Kent, our guide, was so good with making sure that we had a great trip. The picnic lunch was a really nice touch... More

During our vacation we bailed on a previously arranged trail ride in CO so we needed to replace that activity during our time in NM...Google and some other research lead us to Rio Grande Stables leaving out of Taos Ski Valley. After our previous bad experience in CO, we were a bit shy about choosing another value option for this... More
