Went here as part of our tour. Have no idea what the admission cost is. Grounds are beautiful, especially the mirror lake in front of the house and the shaped shrubbery in the back gardens. We had local students as guides and they were very...More

We visited Casa de Mateus in the afternoon. The calm reflection pool with the sleeping lady sculpture and the mansion in the background was very picturesque. The gardens in the rear were inviting and interesting. It's a worthwhile stop as you tour that part of...More

Fine building to view. From the top of the drive down a good photo to take is of the reflection of the house in the pond. Visits inside the property are timed and in order to preserve the furniture and paintings it is rather gloomy...More

As an Englishman of a certain age, "Mateus Rose" was a youthful tipple. I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit. The staff here are delightful and knowledgeable, both about the wines, port and olive oil produced but also about the house, which is also well...More

it's 12 euro per visitor, for the castle, the chapel and free for the gardens. If you like wine, spend the extra 5 euro for the wine tasting, it's something different from the well known rosé
