We went here because my son plays Total War Shogun II and Oda Nobunaga is his clan leader. What a gorgeous castle. We visited a lot of castles while visiting Japan (Nijo, Osaka, Himeji and more) but this was my favourite. The displays inside were great and very informative, the staff were very helpful too. One good part was that... More

Today I decided to visit Kiyosu Castle. Getting there was easy enough, from the Meitetsu line get off at Shin-kiyosu and follow the signs. From the station to the castle was about 20 minutes walking, across the river. The castle is visible as you crest the hill. It is a restoration, and the grounds are well kept and attractive. Inside,... More

Talking of the three most famous feudal warlords in Japan, those are Ieyasu Tokugawa, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Nobunaga Oda. Of those three men, Nobunaga is most popular, I think. He was deeply involved in this castle and made an alliance with Ieyasu Tokugawa at this place. You may think it's too small for the episode. Actually the castle is a... More

Reconstructed in 1989 out of concrete to commemorate the centennial of the founding of the modern city of Kiyosu, Kiyosu Castle was established sometime between 1394 and 1407, and was torn down in 1610 by Tokugawa Yoshinao, son of Ieyasu. They tore it down because Yoshinao moved to Nagoya Castle, newly constructed, and one castle per lord was a rule... More

Kiyosu Castle is the place where Nobunaga Oda once lived. After his death by that Accident of Honnoji, Sanhoshi who was the grandson of Nobunaga was decided as the successor in the "Kiyosu Meeting" that Hideyoshi Hashiba held the whole power. When you go inside of the castle, you may learn a lot of historical knowledge with a lot of... More

It was briefly introduced in the guide book but it looked interesting to me so I've decided to pay a visit. Took the local JR tokaido line and got off from kiyosu station, then an appox 10-15 minutes walk then you will reach the castle. Everything in there is in Japanese had no translators or audio devices available but this... More

Castle is a thing that has been restored, but you can leisurely sightseeing. I was able to participate in the tea party. In addition, you can also see cherry blossoms in spring. However, transportation is inconvenient for the suburbs.
